"Bangkok Balcony," nestled on Forbes Avenue in Pittsburgh, has been making a name for itself in the Thai dining scene. Customers rave about the vibrant, authentic flavors that echo traditional Thai cuisine. Highlights on the menu include the Khao Soi and Coconut Soup, both of which showcase a rich infusion of herbs and spices. Priced at $20 for Khao Soi and $8 for the soups, the dishes promise a delightful experience, though opinions vary on portion sizes. Some diners have noted that they find servings slightly reduced compared to previous visits.
Drink enthusiasts will appreciate the array of cocktails, with standouts like the Lychee Margarita and Don Det Dum, adding to the lively atmosphere. However, service can be a mixed bag, often hampered by busy nights, as highlighted by customers like Simi Odette.

Reviews for Bangkok Balcony
Review highlights
Based on 376 reviewsBangkok Balcony is widely appreciated for its authentic Thai flavors and a welcoming atmosphere, particularly praised for its signature Thai iced tea. Customers frequently note the quality and taste of the dishes, though some mention variability in spice levels and portion sizes, which have reportedly decreased over time. While the food is generally regarded as flavorful and satisfying, a few diners express concerns about inconsistent textures in certain proteins and the pricing relative to portion size. Service is described as friendly but occasionally slow during busy periods. Overall, Bangkok Balcony appeals to those seeking genuine Thai cuisine in a pleasant setting, with room for improvement in spice consistency and value perception.
I recently dined at this Thai restaurant and the food was delicious, although slightly expensive. The drinks were great, but the service was slow, likely due to how busy it was. The location was fantastic and I loved the atmosphere.
This place has one of the best Thai iced teas! I have been going here for a few years and have noticed a few changes in some of the dishes. We got garlic noodle with tofu and a spice level of 6. I always gotten it here and it’s relatively consistent. Usually I feel a bit of spice with 6, but this time I didn’t. The portion size has gone down over the years but there is still enough to fill you. The spicy basil fried was just bad. It used to be so much better. First of all, we got a spice level 7. It felt like they dumped chilly on it and forgot to add any other spices. We could only taste the spice and was otherwise very bland. The garlic noodle on the other hand had more flavors and was definitely way better.
The food was absolute fire, portions are amazing, prices are great, the ice tea is delicious. My one complaint but that's probably just how it's made, the chicken just tasted a bit off, like part of it was crispy and part of it was mushy, real mushy, so I just ate them tho, still really good.
We ordered the lemongrass noodles and mee kathi for delivery. The food tasted good and I can’t complain about the flavors and authenticity. The lemongrass dish was a little on the small side meanwhile the other was more than enough. I do wish i had gone with a higher spice level, 5 didn’t quite do it for me. Otherwise it was a decent meal but I’m not quite sure I’d order there again.
We came on Friday night at 7pm and there was hardly any wait to get in. However, the food is not spicy at all! I ordered a 5 on a 5 out of 10 scale and it tasted like there had been zero spice added, which was disappointing. The portion sizes are also a little small relative to the price. The food was still ok and service was decent as well, but it wasn't mind blowingly amazing. I do feel like there were some inconsistencies because my friend's curry was apparently really good, but my other friend's fried curry rice was more mediocre, like the noodles that I got.
